The kind people at Malki Dead Sea products sent us some soaps and a shower gel a while back. Now, since MyItchyBoy has been suffering terribly with his skin, I haven’t dared use the shower gel on him. However, we have been using the soaps in the bathroom for hand washing.
The first time I put them, out of the packaging, into the bathroom, they made the room smell. Not a bad smell, but it was rather overpowering. Luckily, unless closed by a person, our bathroom door always swings open so there was some flow through of air. However, that just made the whole of the upstairs smell of the soap. It certainly isn’t unpleasant, it’s just quite strong.
The strong smell made me nervous of using them on MyItchyBoy initially. However, as we’ve now got through one bar and are onto the second, I must say we have all noticed a difference. MyItchyBoy’s skin does react badly to some soaps, but now I realise that it’s not just about a reaction but also about just underlying dryness caused by our usual off-the-shelf, easily found ‘sort of natural’, simple bar of soap. All of us have noticed a change in the dryness of our skin, especially since the bathroom sink is used regularly. That’s the soap Husband and I use for cleaning off topical steroids and emollients (they usually take two washes) and it works well for that but does not leave our skin dry.
So, all in all, I like it. And it did make a difference.
I don’t like the strong smell (that it’s strong, rather than the smell necessarily) and I’m not sure about the ingredients. However, using Malki Dead Sea soap has shown me that I need to take more care in choosing soap for MyItchyBoy as well as for all of us here.
Malki Dead Sea Products are found in Boots in the UK and are nice to use. I am no expert (yet) in natural and/or organic ingredients, so cannot tell you about these.
We were sent the soap and shower crème to review by Malki Dead Sea products. We have not reviewed the shower crème.
