MIB woke up today with scratches all over his lower back. They were not bleeding particularly, but the top layer of skin was scratched away so that there was plenty of fluff from his pyjamas stuck in the largest scratch. He gripped my hand as I tried to clean it with wet cotton wool. Poor thing.
He is now at the age that he gets a bit distressed by finding blood on his sheet and insists I change it immediately. I think that as he is getting more conscious about the affect the scratching has and is realising why we try to discourage it. I hope that this is a good thing and it’s not going to have a lasting impact on him.
The scratches looked a lot better this evening, but he did wince when he sat down in the warm bath water. I cut his nails and am just hoping that they don’t get itchy in the night as they heal up.
