At the moment we are struggling with his skin being used as a procrastination tool. I don’t think he has full realisation that his skin is such a sensitive issue with us parents, it is just one thing in a long line of “I wants” – “I want a drink”, “I want the light on”, “I want to be tucked in”…

Unfortunately “I will go to sleep if you put extra cream on my legs because I keep scratching” is much harder to ignore than the others. Usually I can see that he has been scratching, so I feel guilty and give in. Not least because it would feel almost abusive not to apply extra cream. It does make it harder to keep up the stern ‘we’re not listening’ approach though.
