MIB has only been near a swimming pool on two occasions. The first was in May last year when he was two. I was excited by the picture of the kid’s splash pool in the brochure and eagerly prepped him by talking about it. I managed to navigate the complication of young boys’ swimwear and nappy combo and find some armbands. I thought that finally I would be able to join in a little fo this activity that other mums have been talking about since their babies were only a few months old.
Thankfully his skin was in a good state when we set off for the long weekend. I hoped that as it was a short trip away, any flare-up would be (hopefully!) short-term as we’d not be able to go swimming too many times.
When we arrived, I was disappointed to find the kid’s pool was closed for maintenance. My determination to get him in the water did mean we did go for a float about in the adult’s pool, but he was rather reluctant. It was hardly the experience I was hoping for, especially as the pool was deep at all ends. On the plus side, his skin didn’t suffer too badly.
