The arrival of the Epipen into our lives was not a welcome one. It was something I had dreaded and lived in hope that it would never happen to us. Naturally, I am grateful we have it and that we were given free training from the NHS and it does mean we can get on with life with a lower level of panic. However, it does also mean some extra planning. We use a YellowCross pouch to keep in his bag all the time and we have given some members of the family an instruction sheet and some training.
The first few weeks of carrying the pen around were filled with tension and worry. Now we are more relaxed but aware that we need to keep reminding ourselves what to do. Fingers crossed we will never actually need it.
