Now, for some time, MyItchyBoy has been trialling an interesting new product. It’s not a lotion or potion, but a mattress.
He was so excited to receive the mattress almost two months ago now. Compared to his previous one, he seemed in awe of the soft topping to the new Purotex®. Indeed, it is soft – and snuggly! Not that I spend a lot of time lying on MyItchyBoy’s bed, but you know, story time is that time of day when a nap seems like a lovely idea and the mattress certainly does a good job of convincing you!
From the first night, MyItchyBoy slept so well with the new mattress. As regular readers will know, we have struggled and struggled with continual broken nights of sleep. Since the new mattress was put into action, we have still had some rough nights. However, his legs have not been so itchy and in between interruptions he definitely sleeps more soundly.
We’ve had the mattress for a while now, so it’s gone through good eczema and bad and I wanted to wait for the inevitable wet night before posting a review. After all, there’s no good having a mattress that’s all singing and dancing for a youngster without it being to stand up to the normal trials of bedtimes.
I’m happy to report that the mattress coped well (we do have a mattress protector but it is not a fully waterproof one as not pvc backed). I have also been pleased over these past few hot weeks to see that MyItchyBoy has not been hot and sweaty at all as he was with the previous mattress.
The extra benefit of the added probiotic properties is harder to measure. There has been no major improvement in MyItchyBoy’s skin but I no longer go in there to find his legs wriggling uncontrollably due to itching.
Overall, this is a great mattress, super comfy – which means a good night’s sleep. This is a major bonus for me considering how hard MyItchyBoy finds it to sleep at the best of times.

Disclosure: We were sent a Purotex®mattress from Silentnight to review and we’re so happy with it, it is certainly staying on his bed.
