MIB had a dietician appointment earlier this month. It’s a regular appointment that we’ve had over the last 2½ years*. Each visit reveals some further information or leads to a referral to the allergy clinic and we are always grateful to the NHS for their help and guidance. This time the conversation was around his […]
Rosy cheeks
Have packed MIB off to nursery this morning with a good slathering of thick cream on his cheeks. Each time I pick him up, he has rosy cheeks where he has been scratching. We have no ideas why or how come it is only his cheeks, but fingers crossed, it will be better today.
Droopy drawers
Baggy trousers are a fact of life with a child covered in emollient. I now have a pair of pj bottoms staring at me from the arm of the sofa, rolling their eyes at my enthusiasm for getting out the sewing box. I know it won’t take long and that it is not yet warm […]
Stinky Shampoo
***NOTE: We no longer use this shampoo for MyItchyBoy*** I discovered that a solid shampoo called Soak and Float shampoo from Lush has done wonders for MIB’s flaky scalp. We saw good results in almost three days and now use it about once a week. The only trouble is, the stuff doesn’t smell so good when […]
Just love that thick cream
I have recently taken to wearing one of my husband’s t-shirts for MIB’s bedtime. Am not sure if my husband is too chuffed at me choosing which of his beloved t-shirts should be donated to the cause, but it does at least save my own tops from having a permanent oily mark on the chest.
Awareness Badges
Make A Badge are great and we have a great supply of badges for MIB. We use the Epipen one on his bag and we have a couple of peanut warning for occasions when we may be near food and out of our site. The service was great, the badges are excellent value and good […]
Bamboo Towels
I am not sure exactly when or how we discovered bamboo bath towels, but I do know we were glad when we did. We were all prepared for the new baby with a brand new hooded towel from Mothercare but it soon became obvious that he found it difficult to even lie on the towel […]
The Epipen
The arrival of the Epipen into our lives was not a welcome one. It was something I had dreaded and lived in hope that it would never happen to us. Naturally, I am grateful we have it and that we were given free training from the NHS and it does mean we can get on […]
Epaderm Ointment
The thick Epaderm Ointment has the consistency of petroleum jelly, although it doesn’t feel as greasy. We sometimes use this for bathtime when away as it dissolves quite well under running water and the Oilatum Bath Additive has a tendency to leak out of anything we decant it into. The Epaderm is too thick to […]
Piriton
Piriton is a wonderful thing and is, thankfully, fast working. However, I sometimes wish it did actually make MIB drowsy, as the pharmacists warn you! We carry a small supply in MIB’s YellowCross pouch. We’ve also supplied grandparents with a bottle, just in case. We got this organised after I spent hours driving around in […]
